The actual Second Battle of Bull Run took place on 29 and 30 August 1862. On August 28 Pope’s Army and Longstreet’s vanguard met near Thoroughfare Gap, near Centerville and different movements took place that afternoon and evening, with some fighting. The armies were in position on August 29 and the Second Bull Run began that day.
