Claudia: No, we were very fortunate and our programs or our children were not impacted. Can you give a brief description of family reunification efforts in Guatemala? Claudia: We try and reunite every child with his/her family whenever possible. Our social worker makes family visits, and investigates the situation of each individual child. Once the social worker verifies that it is an adequate living situation, a meeting is held with the child … and depending on this meeting, they begin a plan of action for the child to return back in 6 months. When the child is already living with the family, the social worker makes three visits in one year to make sure the child is doing well.
