Did the Portland Trailblazers Make a Mistake in Drafting Greg Oden?
Portland Trailblazers won the NBA lottery. The choice had to be made, select Greg Oden, freshman center from Ohio State, or Kevin Durant, freshman foward from Texas. Both players had amazing freshman seasons in college basketball. Choosing either player would change a franchise. The Blazers selected Greg Oden. The city of Portland was excited about the choice. Then their worst nightmare became real. Oden, the number one overall pick, was originally expected to only have minor surgery to correct some pain he was having with his knees. However he later learned he would have to have arthroscopic surgery. Oden learned he would miss the entire 2007 season. While disappointing, this probably is not a surprise to many. Oden has developed a history of injuries. During the NBA pre-draft camps, rumors surfaced that he was having problems with his knees.
