No! Cromwell took power from Charles II – King of England (who returned to power after his death). England included Wales Scotland and Ireland were both independant at the time. Cromwell died in 1658. Scotland and England became united under James VI of Scotland who was also James I of England in 1603 in the Union of Crowns. The Kingdom of Great Britain includes England, Wales and Scotland and was declared in 1707 in the Act of Union. Scotland got it’s Parliament back 292 years later in 1999. The Act of Union was amended in 1800 to include Ireland and became The Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
