Did the National Front change its name to the BNP for the same reasons Windscale became Sellafield?

I believe the BNP evolved from the National Front because some intelligent people within the party realised that change was the only way forward. Not all NF supporters were Doc Martin wearing, tattoo strewn skin-heads and/or thick despite what some (who spout what they’ve swallowed hook line and sinker) say, which is why the BNP came into existence. If we could actually have a intelligent, reasoned and fair debate about the effects of immigration on this country (which the main parties have fought shy from) then there would be no need for parties like the BNP to exist at all. But then again, the main parties don’t have the first bloody clue about the people that they govern.
