Did the Ministers know that hundreds of local employees of Hyatt Hotel fired & replaced by Indian foreigners?
there is another important point that was clearly the problem of Sabah (uh, one amongst the many…) – but it is true, even Filipinos here speak English and as such they were given priority in tourism, from guides over drivers to hotel front and back staff. The Malaysian Government, a generation ago, had that brilliant idea to ban English in order to further the National Language. But what do you do when you depend so much on tourism and you cannot offer English speaking staff. Ask tourists to learn to speak Malay before they come to Sabah…? Now Sabahans are catching up, but there are still far too few young local tour guides around who speak English. Resorts may employ locals in restaurants, but don’t expect them to speak English, only the most rudimentary phrases and virtually no comprehension. The banning of the influx of foreign workers are just political. You can’t imagine how much money some people (the KKDN, Immigration, local and foreign agents) are benefiting from bringing in these foreigners, we’re talking millions of RM. At the same time, employers are taking advantage of the loose situation. Hiring foreign workers are cheaper, no need EPF or Socso. These foreign workers are not vaccinated and the Indian workers are a majority carrier of TB. Other diseases foreign workers carry into this country is Syphilis and AIDS. One out of ten has acute heart disease which renders them useless to work. Not being able to converse Bahasa and English is little as compared to the health hazard they are infecting us Malaysians. The Immigration operational level are not to be blamed entirely as they do carry raids from time to time and there’s little room for them to complain about why their bosses are letting this issue go uncontrolled. Employers should learn to limit the employment
