Did the Iraq/Afghan war cause the economic crash?
Yes, I think that this has a lot to do with the present economic crises. However, if we could revert back to the Vietnam war era when America had managed to fly man to he moon, survive the near and present danger in the Bay of Pigs, have the US president assassinated along with Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King jr and Malcom X. This was a decade of paroxysms which was not unlike the post 911 America. Apart from the absense of political assassinations the crises of political and economic ideology has come to the fore once again. With the passing of Milton Friedman the miracles of the microeconomic reformation has been challenged with the re-nationalisation by governemnt subsidies of the mortgage lenders of American realty, Fannie May and Freddie Mac, the subsidisation of the MNE banking institutions, GMH etc which has made America revert back to Macroeconomic economics.
