Did the government know the twin towers were going to be hit before it happend?
A case can be made that some in the administration knew the 9/11 plot was afoot, and allowed it to happen in order to give them a casus belli to invade Iraq and depose Saddam. It’s a great way to get a democracy to support a war, and antecedents can be seen in Pearl Harbor and the Tonkin Gulf incident. However, the same way it never occurred to Roosevelt that the Japanese could actually do serious damage to the US fleet in Pearl Harbour (if you had suggested before Dec 7 1941 that Japanese carrier aircraft could sink all the US battleships in Pearl Harbor, you would have been laughed at) it didn’t occur to the Bush administration that the damn buildings would actually collapse when the hijacked jets hit them. It’s pretty conjectural though, and note I am NOT saying that the USA engineered the attacks, that is crackpot nonsense. But did some elements of the USA government know that Al Qaeda was going to fly planes into buildings and allowed it to go forward in order to justify war…wit
