Did the Dixie Chicks do Wrong?
The problem is that she used the wrong venue to express her feelings. You don’t sell out a concert and then use it for your personal political statement. (There were of course collaboration tours that were specifically for that, that’s not in question.) But to use your entertainment concert to talk about anything but your music, is just tasteless. Not only did Natalie not seem to realize the innappropriateness of it, but she never lets it drop…and she drags her band members into it, when they really just want it to be what it was and not keep talking about it. That’s why there’s the skit. But, yeah, the skit is a little weird.
