Did the disciples act as Jesus bodyguard?
It said after the beheading of John the Baptist, who was Jesus’ cousin by the way, Jesus went to a small fishing village of Bethsaida away from any hostile Romans. Here he recruited the fishermen as his disciples. –I find it curious that Jesus (supposedly a deity with flesh?) didn’t even bother to attempt saving JtB. The Romans were NOT hostile towards the inhabitants of Israel, they tolerated the rebellions and eventually had to resort to mass homicide to try and provoke the leftover Jews to stop their irrational behavior. It didn’t work out as planned. What does a miracle worker need body guards for?
Jesus taught them all to be peacable so that rough, perhaps violent, persona would have been toned down. Aside from that, Jesus didn’t need body guards. He had the ultimate protection. Legions of angels at his command. When the time came for him to die, as he knew he must, he chose NOT to call on them.
