Did the CBO just kill obamas health card plan?
I’m sure insurance lobbyists and the fatcat CEOs within the health care industry hope so, but the answer is that health care reform is alive and doing well, despite the virtual ARMY of Washington lobbyists bent on derailing this important legislation. CBO Director Douglas Elmendorf’s testimony has been disputed rather effectively by several qualified experts, including Dean Baker, the Co-Director of Center for Economic and Policy Research. The important ingredient within the Obama health care plan is the public option, because this would help control costs for all other components (to include the greed-driven insurance industry, pharmaceuticals whose Washington lobbyists outnumber our elected representatives 4.5 to 1, HMOs, the AMA, and hospitals)—and this is what lobbyists are furiously resisting behind the scenes.
