Did the caste system push India back by at least 1000 years?
Interesting.. It is in fact one of the few reasons due to which the Indian sub-continent could not and is not able to live up to the reputation of its glorious past. Disunity amongst Hindus is primarily due to caste differences and secondarily due to various religious beliefs like Shaivism, Vaishnavism etc, which segregated people based on their belief in the form of God. These are nothing but criminal aspects enforced on the Hindu belief due to corruption of mind in the ones who were supposed to preserve unity among people. And as it is evident, progress of the religion suffered in due course, with many breakaway religions like Jainism, Buddhism and Sikhism…all being Hindu at one point of time.
