Did the Branch Davidians have hand grenades?
We found no credible evidence that any of the Branch Davidians possessed hand grenades either before or on February 28, 1993, the day of the ATF raid, or that they used hand grenades against federal agents at any time during the ensuing 51 day siege or the April 19, 1993 FBI attack. However, there is evidence that Koresh himself fashioned a live hand grenade from a grenade hull at some point during the stand-off. Australian Davidian survivor Graem Craddock was convicted of possessing a live grenade on April 19, 1993 which he claimed David Koresh handed to him while the building was on fire. Craddock said he was anxious to get out of the burning building, that he did not want to set it someplace inside fearing the flames would set it off and that he put it in his pocket with the intention of safely getting rid of it if he got out alive.
