Did the bombing of Dresden end WW2?
The bombing of the City of Dreden definitely didn’t end WW2. Dresden was bombed on the nights of 13February & 14February 1945. The war in Europe would not end until 8 May 1945. Furthermore, Japan will not announce it’s surrender until the afternoon of 15 August 1945 (14 August in the U.S.)….therefore officially ending WW2 There are several concrete results of the bombing of the City of Dresden in February 1945. Here are some facts culled from several sources about the bombing…. (1.) Out of 28,410 houses in the inner city of Dresden, 24,866 were destroyed. An area of 15 square kilometres was totally destroyed, among that: 14,000 homes, 72 schools, 22 hospitals, 18 churches, 5 theatres, 50 banks and insurance companies, 31 department stores, 31 large hotels, 62 administration buildings as well as factories such as the Ihagee camera works.
