Did the Board consider public input when making its decision about Act 72?
Yes. The Board received public comment on Act 72 through email, U.S. mail and public comment at Board meetings. The overwhelming majority of community members who provided input on Act 72 indicated that they did not want the Board to opt in to the program. Most constituents cited concerns over maintaining the quality of the educational program, enacting an earned income tax and giving up local control of schools. The Board thanks its community members for their thoughtful comments on Act 72 and also for attending public meetings or watching the meetings on TETV, Channel 14. The Board hopes that its residents continue to be active participants in ongoing decisions of the community and school district.
