Did the ASDA talk help?
Unfortunately I couldn’t attend the talk, but I visited the ASDA storein Leighton and researched ASDA on line to get a feel for their look and client base. I picked up on the fact that the fabrics they used were easy wash care and that they tended to favour quite straightforward designs. What was the toughest part of FF2? Creating something as original possible yet sticking to the brief. That was tricky. And the best bit? Just seeing my design come to life on the mannequin after all the hard work I put in during the week. Why FAD? I thought it would be interesting to see how this was done outside school where you are following the requirements of one exam board. I wanted to see how fashion was done in a more independent environment. Biggest FAD lesson: FAD taught me a lot about research: how to be more observational and visit exhibitions to look for ideas. I also learnt new skills for presenting my work. I didn’t know about creating design moodboards before.
