Did the Arabs take more slaves then the United States Carribean and South America combined from Africa?
Yes they did. Between 650 and 1900 AD (yes, that late!) it is estimated that between 11 million and 20 million Africans were taken by Arab slavers from the eastern states of Africa. And that does not count the other nationalities which were also taken as slaves of the various Muslim empires that took over large areas of Eastern and Southern Europe in the Middle Ages (including Spain, France, Sicily and the Balkans). The word “slave”, in fact, derives from the word “Slav”. Nor does it include the huge numbers that have been taken since 1900, because the slave trade has never ended in the Arab world. To this day, black women and children are taken from their villages in North Africa and enslaved, after the men have been slaughtered. The Arab word for slave means “black”. What else is horrific is: what was the fate of these slaves? In the USA, where slavery took place for 200 years, and in the Caribbean, there are large African- origin populations. Yet, in the Arab world, there are not. W
