It was believed that Austin wouldn’t fight anyone that he doesn’t think is in his “league”. In 1999 Jeff Jarrett left the WWF after being promised a short feud with Austin. Austin kept turning it down so Jarrett got fed up and left. Austin has also refused to feud with Chris Benoit, Billy Gunn, Kurt Angle, although that was a while ago, which isn’t the case anymore, because he did fight Benoit and Angle.
