I am somewhat amazed that Gordon-Reed as a professor of law and history would keep alive the fallacy of Thomas Jefferson fathering children with Sally Hemings. The so-called DNA evidence was proven inconclusive at best and while similar markers were found, the greater truth is that the children were fathered by another Jefferson relative. I would appeal to the integrity of Gordon-Reed and American Heritage Magazine to set the facts straight and not give ammunition to those who are attempting to revise the truth of our history.
