Did people brush their teeth in the middle ages?

The toothbrush wasn’t invented until the 15th century by the Chinese The first toothbrush was made of hairs of a Siberian wild boar attached to a bamboo stick. Until this was invented people chewed ( still do) on sticks taken from certain trees. The World Health org suggests using the Misiwak chewing stick made from the Arak or Peeler tree. All that is needed to do is peel the bark off the end of the stick and chew. The stick not only cleans but provides an antibiotic that will help the mouth and gums. So, not only can you do what they did in history, but it may help.
