Did Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street magnify the definition of curmudgeon?”
There are several words that I have heard throughout my life that I never really understood the definition for. Crumudgeon is one of those words. As I was thinking about the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street I thought back to some of my favorite characters that shaped who I was as a child and became as an adult. One of those defining characters was Oscar the Grouch. He was very bad-tempered, difficult and cantankerous which I have recently learned is the exact definition of someone we could call a crumudgeon. It could also be the definition of many of the senior men and women that are portrayed in assisted living homes on TV and in the movies. Either way we are usually able to find a soft spot for these crumudgeons in our lives that help remind us that we are grateful for our own lives.
