Did Obama like this guy Sgt. Giunta in 2007?
To maintain appropriate reverence toward the Medal of Honor, and in deference to the valor of the recipients, President Barack Obama should be excluded and the ceremony moved from the White House to Arlington National Cemetery. Obama, who has spent much of his life despising, or at least resenting, American military power, on Tuesday presented the third Medal of Honor of his presidency. Tuesday’s medal was bestowed upon Army Staff Sgt. Salvatore Giunta of Clinton, Iowa. He is the first living recipient of the nation’s most sacred military award in more than 40 years. During the White House event, Obama made a point of saying he had been looking forward to Giunta’s ceremony and announced he was going off-script at one point to emphasize, “I really like this guy.” (Arrogant California Sen. Barbara Boxer can scold a military officer for calling her “M’am” but, apparently, TV host Jon Stewart can address the President as “Dude” and, in turn, the President can refer to a genuine American he
