However, a recent study has shown that patients taking Meridia may have a higher risk of developing cardiovascular health problems including heart-attack and stroke, and Abbott Laboratories has removed Meridia from the market under recommendation by the FDA. After October 2010, your doctor should know that Meridia has been pulled from the market, and all of his or her patients currently on the drug should be warned of the potential dangers and should discontinue use.
