All due respect to Farrah Fawcett, but her tragic passing is about to get overshadowed by a media hurricane: One of the biggest superstars in decades has died from cardiac arrest, according to TMZ.com. Before he became tabloid fodder, Michael Jackson was the biggest pop star on the planet, and even his plastic surgery shenanigans, lurid legal issues and tepidly received later albums, did little to dim his star. For people of my generation, Jacko is easily the biggest superstar of our lives, joning Elvis and the Beatles in that pantheon. The question now may be: first Farrah, than Michael. Jackson had gone into full cardiac arrest at his home and paramedics were unable to revive the eccentric entertainer known as the King of Pop, the entertainment news Web site TMZ said. Emergency workers reportedly performed CPR on him in the ambulance as he was transported to UCLA Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Citing law enforcement sources, the Los Angeles Times said robbery-homicide detectives were investigating the circumstances of the performer’s death, even though there was no evidence of wrongdoing. The Los Angeles County coroner’s office will conduct an autopsy to determine how the father of three children died.
