Did McCain vote against equal rights and equal pay for women and is also anti choice?
The Rev got it right, there is no constitutional protection to privacy, but there is to the right to LIFE, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. From a scientific point of view, life clearly begins at conception, therefore legalizing abortion makes no sense. As far as McCain being against equal pay, guess what. we already have a civil rights amendment that prevents this kind of discrimination. McCain voted against additional legislation of this kind because if it had passed, any woman who found out she was being paid less than her counterparts would be able to sue – even if that lower pay is because she is less qualified, has fewer skills to justify the same pay, or just low-balled her salary requirements during the interview. It was a smart move on his part, I do believe.
No new law is needed to protect the rights for equal pay. The bill you mention however, he did vote against. But it wasn’t for equal pay, it was for the right to sue to continue into infinity. McCain voted against that. McCain wants Roe vs. Wade overturned and the issue handled at the state level. He is against partial birth abortion outright. Personally, he is not an advocate for abortion.
