No. DC’s first comic book title was Detective Comics #1 (which is what “DC” originally stood for) in 1937. Marvel Comics #1 (featuring the Sub-Mariner and the Human Torch) was published in 1939, by Timely Comics, a few months after DC published Action Comics #1 (with the first Superman story). The company changed its name from Timely Comics to Atlas Comics in the 1950s, and to Marvel Comics in 1962.
