Did marital strife cause Quebec deaths?
Colleagues of a Quebec doctor said they saw no signs of trouble before his two children were found dead and he was hospitalized with a drug overdose. Dr. Guy Turcotte remained hospitalized in Montreal and hadn’t yet been questioned by provincial police about the discovery of the children’s bodies at his home in Piedmont, Quebec, the Montreal Gazette reported. Autopsies were planned for this week to determine what killed Olivier Turcotte, 5, and Anne-Sophie Turcotte, 3. The Gazette said Turcotte and his estranged wife shared custody of the youngsters. She is also a doctor and was away on a ski trip over the weekend. Both worked as physicians at Hotel Dieu hospital in St. Jerome, where Turcotte when he worked his regular shift Friday. No one saw this coming, Francois Therrien, the hospital’s executive director, told the Gazette. We are devastated.
