The autopsy results of Kevin LaDay show that the 35-year-old Port Arthur man had a fatal level of phencyclidine, PCP, in his blood that caused his accidental death. The autopsy was performed April 30 by Dr. Tommy Brown at the request of Justice of the Peace Vi McGinnis and the results were made public today. LaDay died at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital after passing out while in the custody of Lumberton police. LaDay had wrecked his car in Lumberton and allegedly ran from police when officers arrived and saw him coming from behind a nearby credit union. LaDay’s autopsy showed a PCP level of 280 ng/ml. The autopsy report states that case studies have shown a concentration as low as 100 and 200 ng/ml to have caused deaths in two men who were arrested and placed into physical restraints who died during police transports with no apparent anatomic explanations for death. PCP is capable of causing sedation, hypertension, seizures, coma and respiratory depression. Sandra LaDay, Kevin LaDay’s
