After chugging down water in a radio show competition two and a half years ago, Jennifer Strange’s Acute Water Intoxication trial has begun. Jennifer Strange, who was a mother of three children, arrived to an FM radio show to compete for a $250 Wii game System in a water-drinking contest. The contest, which sought to award the one person who could chug the most water without having to go to the bathroom first, began, and while other contestants began dropping out, Jennifer remained. Sometime into the contest, Jennifer began to complain of a headache and light-headedness, but insisted she was fine. She had apparently been asked by the station’s staff, who were all aware of the possibility of water poisoning, if she was alright several times. Strange never won the Wii system, but was offered Justin Timberlake concert tickets. She accepted – and died six hours later of Acute Water Intoxication.
