Did Japan actually capitulate after the dropping of the nuclear bombs 50 years ago?
Yes. The Americans’ act of dropping of atomic bombs over Hiroshima and Nagasaki forced the Japanese to surrender. For half a century now the world has lived with the “equilibrium of terror” which means that the nuclear powers have kept each other at bay with their atomic bombs and other nuclear potential, while their threats of a nuclear war constantly lurked in the background.
