Did Israel steal Palastinian land?
Several quick things: 1. There was always a Jewish presence in the region. 2. Beginning in 1906 under the Ottoman Empire and continuing under the British Mandate, Jews were allowed to legally immigrate to the region. 3. Jews purchased the land in question. As a result of a historic Jewish presence and legal immigration/legal landowners, by the time the UN was charged with developing a solution to bring the territory to sovereignty, it needed to respect the equal right of self-determination of both the region’s Arab and Jewish population.
