I think dogs that were seeking food scraps and company, and naturally Humans would have thrown out food bit to the dogs and then its not a big leap to befreind a dog after that.

There is aschool of thought that says that unless we had domesticated and trained dogs we would not have been able to settle down in permanent homes with sheep, goats and cattle to live off.

I don’t think it would be fair to say wolves adopted us and taught us to get along with them. But cats certainly domesticated humans and not the other way around. They basically approached us about 10,000 years ago with a simple proposition.
