Did humana get new tricare contract awards?
Officials with Louisville-based Humana Inc., announced today that Humana Military Healthcare Services has been awarded a new $2 billion contract by the U.S. Department of Defense to administer its TRICARE managed care plan to the 10-state South Region of the U.S. The contract consists of a nine-month transition period, which begins on Sept. 1, and five, one-year options. Humana Military will serve as the managed care support contractor for about 2.8 million beneficiaries in Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. Those covered by the plan are active duty and retired service members and their immediate family members. Humana Military also will process claims for eligible beneficiaries in Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.
