Did Honda pay for the development of Brawn GP?
The current 2009 Brawn GP is the fruit of one year and a half worth of research and development funded by Honda. Honda spent hundreds of millions of USD to develop a decent 09 car after the demise of the previous years. In fact, last year they decided not to develop their 08 model since the first races after realizing they were too fart behind the others, and they concentrated on the 09 car. It’s very stupid that after so much time and money invested, Honda pulled out. But it was their prerogative. Ross Brawn knew he had a good car in his hands after all the money that was spent for it. And he did everything possible to salvage the team. He was successful. However, don’t forget that if they still had that Honda engine, they may not be where they are now. The Mercedes-Benz engine they got is much better. So the Brawn GP car that is dominating the 09 season wasn’t built and developed on a low budget.
