Did Hitler speak German with an Austrian accent?
Hello Professor Sakhalinskii, Thank you for your question. There is little record of Hitler having had a accent that was different to the average German. It is not fair from Austria to southern Germany in any case so they may well have a similar accent. There have been many recordings of Hitler and not much comment on his accent. The Nazis relied heavily on speaking and Hitler was considered to be a master of public speaking. Any accent that he had certainl didn’t stop him from being effective.
