Did Gorbachev tear down the Berlin Wall because Reagan said to?
I had to double check to make sure I had this correct. (I was in high school and didn’t always pay attention to world events), Reagan went and visited Germany in June of 1987. (At this time the Soviet Union still existed-it wasn’t dissolved into separate nations until 1991) He gave a famous speech asking that the wall be torn down. Gorbachev was ruler of the Soviet Union which at that time controlled East Germany. This was one of the main reasons why the Berlin Wall came down 2 years later.
