Did Google Alerts Get Sold and Change Their Name?I got an email about my Google Alerts. It said they were changing their name and owned by some company that isn’t Google. What is going on?Answer: What most likely happened is that instead of setting up a Google Alert, you set a Giga Alert. Giga Alert is not affiliated with Google, but they own the domain www.googlealert.com, and until recently they called their service “Google Alert.” Giga Alert is a fee-based subscription service, while Google Alerts are free.
