Did God create the stars 10 billion years before Earth, just so we could look at something pretty?
I think some failed to see the point you are trying to make. Considering that some stars we see are billions of light years away, it would take billions of light years for us to see them on Earth. Unless god created the Universe first and then the earth billions of years later, which is not how the creation story goes, we should not be able to see the stars now since we would have only been in existence for 6,000-10,00 years.
God does not indicate the exact time that he created the stars in relation to the earth. The Bible does, however, reveal to us the purpose of the stars and the moon. The celestial bodies in the sky act to signal certain dates, determine the start of seasons, reveal days and years of a particular time period. God created these celestial bodies to serve as “signs…seasons…days, and years”. Genesis 1:14 There are things for which God has an “eternal purpose”. Ephesians 3:11 The stars, no doubt are part of his eternal purpose, for God does not do anything without purpose. Isaiah 55:9,11 Not all stars are visible to earth, though, so God has even more purpose for the stars of the universe, beyond the purpose some of them serve for the earth and mankind. Since there are things that are a “mystery” or “secret” in God’s divine will, his overall purpose for the universe is yet, at this point in time, unrevealed. Ephesians 1:9 God, though, does “reveal” the secrets of his will to his servants
Pretty much. Keep in mind that God is not limited by time and space. 10 Billion years is a long time to us but it is nothing to him. God created the world. God is Love. Love created everything. I love looking at the stars. I love God. That works for me. You work your plan and i will work mine, but, yes, actually, our PHYSICAL existence is very much a peripheral existence. We are spiritual beings. The part of us that experiences love (The whole reason for our existence) is spiritual. My appreciation of the stars has both a physical aspect and a spiritual aspect. The physical aspect is a bit random, I suppose, but, for a person who is only able to look at life from a 100% physical point of view.. is missing out on quite a lot. They are falling for a big lie. They say that the “religious folk” are falling for a lie but it’s really them.
