In 1979, Zbigniew Brzezinski worked with the CIA SAD to draw the Soviets into invading Afghanistan. This was done to collapse the USSR, because we hoped that a Vietnam-style combat situation would overstretch the country both financially and militarily. CIA worked with the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence to recruit, fund, and train guerilla fighters (known as Mujahideen) to fight in the war. Israel provided all the non-US weapons, and other countries such as China provided mass amounts of financial resources. Over the course of about 12 years, between 10 and 20 billion dollars was funded to the region from over 6 countries. In 1984, CIA asset Tim Osman (Osama bin Laden) and Abdullah Azzam created “Maktab al-Khidamat” (MAK), an organization whose sole purpose was to recruit, train, and fund Afghan Mujahideen. I’m a republican and I am a Muslim as well and I am damn well proud of it but I highly doubt Bush had anything to do with the horrendous attacks on 9/11. There is a lot of evidence how ever that he had information about these attacks yet he did not even bother to respond. His own laziness prompted his failure. As for Al-Qaeda, they carried their plans through and killed vicariously. Their crazy antic’s of suicide for the help of god and the promise of 70 virgin’s is totally ludicrous, in Islam the only acceptable reason’s to kill your self is if you are about to die any ways in a more painful way or if your family or land has been taken, none of which apply to why Al-Qaeda does what they do.
