Did George Lucas write any of the Star Wars scripts or Star Wars novels?

George Lucas wrote the scripts for episodes 1, 3 and 4 all by his lonesome. For episode 2 he worked with british screenwriter Jonathan Hales, and for episode 6 he worked with talented SF author Lawrence Kasdan. However, episode 5 “The Empire Strikes Back” is generally regarded as the most well-written installment, and all Lucas did was come up with the story. The screenplay was written by Leigh Brackett & Lawrence Kasdan.
