Did Frankie Dettori get struck by lightning today?

No he definitely didn’t. I was at Newmarket today and the thunder and lightning started just before the 3.45 race which was the 2yo fillies race. Frankie was on the favourite Zelloof who refused to go into the stalls and was withdrawn not under starters orders. It was scary because there was fork lightning all round the course and the stalls could have been in danger of being struck with the horses inside. Once the gates opened the fillies, made a bolt for it and flew down the course like lightning, I think they must have set the course record. The race was won by Fantasia trained by Luca Cumani. Frankie Dettori came galloping down the course on Zelloof just after the race had ended, he definitely wasn’t struck by lightning. As we were leaving the races we walked out of the course just behind Mr Dettori and some friends and he looked very smart in his Italian suit (no sign of lightning burns). Sleep well Frankie is fine.
