The Norse (aka Vikings) raided Britain for nearly 300 years, They settled and had considerable influence in the east-central region (the Danelaw) for about half that, However, there was only a Norse *ruler* of England for 30 years (from 1013-1042) Everyday was affected in that the language changed as new dialects were formed from the melding of Old Norse and Anglo-Saxon. The Yorkshire, Lancashire, Lake District and Lincolnshire dialects of English emerged from this process and “Standard” English received about 600 “loan words” from Norse. The culture does not seem to have changed significantly as the Norse did what they did practically everywhere else and adopted the customes of their adopted land. Religion does not seem to have changed, as again, the Norse/Dane settlers in the Danelaw, while maintaining some of the stories from their traditional mythology, more or less adopted the Christianity practiced by their Anglo-Saxon neighbors.
