Did David Letterman mean for his joke involving A-Rod to be about Willow Palin?”
David Letterman and his jokes, whether they were about Willow Palin or Bristol Palin, continue to land David Letterman in hot water with Willow and Bristol’s mother. He said about Bristol Palin getting knocked up by A-Rod was one thing. But since Willow Palin was actually attending a Yankees game with Sarah Palin this week instead, David Letterman is being accused of encouraging underage rape, among other things. Sarah Palin continued to try and stick up for Willow and Bristol by attacking David Letterman on the Today Show this morning. Palin did not buy Letterman’s apology, or Letterman’s claim that he was joking about Bristol Palin getting knocked up and not 14-year-old Willow. Letterman is at least guilty of poor research and a poor choice of words. By not clearing up which daughter he was joking about, Letterman opened himself to a Palin attack on all fronts. But whether he was joking about Bristol or Willow Palin, he couldn’t have won.

Sarah Palin and one of her teenage daughters — even as he milked the situation for more laughs. “Of course, we make mistakes left and right,” the CBS host said as he began a lengthy discourse that blended flashes of contrition with moments of hilarity as he took more pokes at Palin and her family. Letterman had made several jokes on Monday’s monologue about the Palin family’s visit to New York. His Top Ten list featured “Highlights of Sarah Palin’s Trip,” and included: “Bought makeup at Bloomingdale’s to update her ‘slutty flight attendant’ look.” But the diciest joke centered on the family attending a Yankees baseball game. Letterman said “an awkward moment” occurred for Palin when, “during the seventh inning, her daughter was knocked up by (Yankee third baseman) Alex Rodriguez.” Without naming her, the joke seemed to refer to Palin’
“One awkward moment for Sarah Palin at the Yankee game, during the seventh inning, her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez,” he quipped. Letterman tried to calm the storm by saying he was making the crack about 18-year-old single mom Bristol Palin – not Willow who attended the Bombers game with mom and former GOP presidential contender Rudy Giuliani.
