Did Darius compete in pop idol 2002?
Darius did compete in Pop Idol 2002 but was initially unsuccessful progressing past the final group stage. He finished 3rd in his group and only the top two acts went through one of which was Rick Waller, a larger than life character who didn’t really fit the profile of your typical ‘Pop Idol’. As the live TV final shows progressed through the weeks, it became apparent that Rick might have a chance of winning the whole competition and as if by magic he was suddenly struck down with a mysterious throat infection and had to pull out. Darius took his place and went on to claim third place overall and subsequently had a hit single that went on sale soon after. He was lucky as he only really made it onto the live shows by default but he took his chance and became a success.
