Did Churnovic Invested City Assets into Amcore?
Former Mayor Nick Churnovic served as the acting city treasurer after accepting the formal resignation of Mark Spiezio in January, 2009. Mr. Churnovic exercised powers assigned to the city treasurer, an elected position of city government, until March when the city council concurred with Mr. Churnovic’s appointment of Joseph Bobikiewicz as interim city treasurer. Amcore Bank was a participant in the Crest Hill Chamber of Commerce, something Churnovic was promoting during his last year in office. Did Churnovic move city funds to Amcore? This is a big deal. City fund are on the line, and the community should expect answers.
