Did christopher columbus know about water currents?
Columbus was a skilled sailor, well aware of the trade winds and able to calculate navigation distances and the myriad other aspects of navigation. While he was a poor navigator he was a good sailor and it would be highly unlikely that he had no knowledge of water currents as in the course of his 4 journeys to the Americas (not America note) he would have had ample oppourtunity to see them for himself. Besides which at that time people were routinely sailing in the other direction to Asia. Water currents would have been known about by many sailors and captains for decades if not centuries before Columbus made his voyages.
