Did china go from a command economy to a market economy?

It went from a planned economy under Mao and his criminal gang to mixed economy employing more free market (capitalism) practices which they do not like to admit to. However, the new market economy has made them strong and the fastest growing economy in the world. But you must remember that there still is no private ownership of the means to production. We (the U.S.) on the other hand are going in the other direction under Obama. He wants to plan and control the economy and your life (it is a power thing). It is just a matter of time the American people will revolt against his type of government unless he slows up so it can become more insidious or disguised.
