(0+ / 0-) From the Cincinnati Enquirer: Bunning told reporters Monday that he essentially loaned $30,000 of his campaign funds to Kentucky Senate President David Williams last fall for Williams and the RPK to use on statehouse races. Bunning said the money was to go toward races being run by two Republican candidates, Sen. Jack Westwood of Erlanger and Ken Winters of far western Kentucky. …Covington Democrat Kathy Groob, who lost last year’s 23rd Senate District race in Kenton County to Westwood, suggested Bunning’s contribution may have violated campaign laws if the money was earmarked for certain candidates. “Jim Bunning has admitted to funneling campaign money through the Republican Party to Jack Westwood’s campaign,” Groob wrote in an e-mail. “Bunning wrote a check on Oct. 20 and Jack Westwood received $30,000 on Oct. 22. The timing seems to violate the spirit of campaign finance laws. These guys need to come clean.” Bunning had no comment on the contribution, Reynard said.
