Did black people sell their “own people” into slavery?
Equating an African tribe selling captives of crime and war to “selling their own people” is ridiculous. Some “white” people make the “sold their own people” statement as a result of not wanting to appear guilty of any wrongdoing (which is absolutely absurd since no one living today had anything to do with the slavery of that time). That being said, however, there are also those who are simply trying to illustrate that the road travels both ways. For example: “Your people enslaved our people.” I’ve heard several “black” people say this. Well, just like a lot of other “white” people, I don’t consider “those people” to be “my people”. Therefore, “my people” didn’t do a damned thing to “your people”. “But they dont seem to be able to understand that black people are not all “one people”” —-Many of them don’t understand this because some “black” people are sending the opposite message.
