Did Australian arrogance cause them to lose the Zimbabwe match?
Prashant, despite me not being an Aussie, I highly doubt this is the decline of the mighty Australia. One upset will not automatically make them slowly start losing games. If anything, they will come back harder and stronger. I don’t think it was arrogance, it was more a lack of intensity. They seemed dull and there was no excitement. Some of the run outs and catches for the Australia batsman showed they weren’t fully focused. Allowing the Zimbabwe batsmen to turn one’s into two’s and also some silly misfields meant that Zimbabwe probably gained an extra 10-15 runs. It was an extremely poor performance but credit must go to Zimbabwe. What a professional innings by Brendan Taylor! Good hitting straight down the ground, holding on to good, high catches and bowling accurately meant Zimbabwe really stood a chance. Combine that with Australia’s lack of an intent to win and Zimbabwe deserved to come out on top.
